When Street Sweeping Any Location, Think Specialized Equipment and Skilled Operators!

By John Rod

With help from advanced technologies and superior training, street sweepers and their operators have reached a new level of sophistication and efficiency. SCA has been hard at work, upgrading our fleet and training our drivers to ensure we have the best street sweeping equipment and most skilled operators around. They are ready to tackle all types of concrete and street pavement! With our state-of-the-art fleet, SCA offers street sweeping on-demand with emergency and flexible contract sweeping that is also safe for the environment.

Locations Where Street Sweepers Are Most Needed

Roadways, highways, interstates, bridges, offramps, state highways, county roads and rural municipal streets all need to be cleaned with effective street sweeping equipment. There are also a host of commercial areas that require intervals of street sweeping like office parks, shopping centers, retail strip malls, medical complexes, hospitals, shopping malls, industrial parks, airports, airport runways, and construction sites. Even special events like concerts, fairs and parks might require street cleaning or street sweeping services.

Street Sweepers Are More Efficient Than Ever

They are durable and purpose-built for low operating costs and increased safety. The cabs are designed for maximum visibility and outfitted with controls for operator ease and comfort. The most popular type is broom sweepers with a hose underneath that will spray water onto the street to loosen debris and dirt that is accumulated into the sweeper bin until it can be properly dumped. All locations that have hard surfaces need to be swept and cleaned at regular intervals.

New Technologies for SCA

  • 360 degree cameras provide the operator with clear vision of everything around him during the street sweeping operation
  • GPS technology that monitors speed and location of sweepers
  • Virtual bread crumb trail allows our supervisors and customers to follow where the street sweeper is and has been, and the speed at which he has swept
  • Closely monitored arrival and departure times

All of these technologies allow us to provide feedback to our customers on street sweeping services on their property, as well as assist our managers with monitoring driving habits and efficiencies.

The Street Sweeping Equipment Operators

SCA employs highly skilled and trained operators who have safety as a top priority. Our OSHA safety-certified workforce operates the most advanced and well-maintained street sweeping fleet. Radio dispatch for emergency and on-demand service make our flexibility second to none. Our driver operators are always professional, knowledgeable, and courteous.

The SCA Training Process

Our street Sweeping operators are going through a certification process that has been developed by experts in the street sweeping industry. Boasting hundreds of combined years of experience in the street sweeping industry, these experts have developed best practices that have been distilled down to online training modules. These training modules cover everything from hiring practices, good sleep habits, proper nutrition, sweeper equipment nomenclature, site assessments, what to do and not do after an accident, and proper pre- and post-truck inspections – to name just a few. Each sweeper operator is required to go through the over 20 educational modules covering these topics and pass a multiple choice test at the end of each module with a perfect score to be able to move on to the next module. At the end of the modules, the operator will need to pass a cumulative test on all the modules with a perfect score. They then will be subjected to an oral interview with a trained supervisor to ensure the concepts have been learned. Once this is completed and it has been established that the operator has at least 1,000 hours of accident-free sweeping, they will then be granted a certificate from the North American Power Sweeping Association certifying them as a Certified Sweeping Operator.
