Christopher Valerian President & Chief Executive Officer
Chris is the President, Chief Executive Officer and a member of the Board of Directors of SCA. Prior to joining SCA, he was the Chief Operating Officer of a private equity backed waste management company in the southeastern US. Earlier in his career he was a partner and CEO of Live Earth, a waste-by rail operation from the East Coast to Ohio and prior to that he was a partner and CEO of Liberty Waste and Recycling in Tampa, Florida, a regional solid waste management company. Chris is a former US Marine and has a BSBA from The California State University.
John Landefeld Chief Financial Officer
John is the Chief Financial Officer of SCA. He is responsible for all finance, treasury, planning, accounting, tax, audit, human resources, administration and IT across the organization. Prior to joining SCA, Mr. Landefeld was Chief Financial Officer of one of North America’s largest horticultural container manufacturers, leading that organization through a spinoff from public to private equity ownership. He also has extensive finance and strategic planning experience in the tire industry across all major product segments, including serving as General Manager of a business providing tires and services to the public transit sector. John has a BA from The Ohio State University and an MBA from Wayne State University.
Keith Cordesman Area President - East
Keith is the Area President – East of SCA. He has P & L responsibility for our Eastern Region Operations as well as safety for SCA. Prior to SCA, Mr. Cordesman was the Executive Vice President of a private equity backed waste management company in western Canada where he led the aggressive expansion through acquisition while establishing rigor and accountability in the established operations. Keith brings more than 20 years of successful achievements in general management, operations, sales and strategic planning across multiple marketplaces in two countries. Keith has a BSBA from Texas Christian University.
Joe Frola Area President - Central
Joe is the Area President – Central of SCA. He has P & L responsibility for our Central Region Operations as well as oversight of fleet management and procurement for SCA. He has more than 20 years’ experience in leading the operations for construction and solid waste businesses. For the last nine years he has worked in both a publicly traded and private equity-backed setting to deliver results through operational improvement in fleet efficiency, maintenance process control and driving safety culture. Mr. Frola is a hands-on manager who is experienced in recruiting, hiring and managing a diverse labor force, including union labor, across a broad geography. Joe is a Registered Professional Engineer in Ohio and has a BS from The Ohio State University. Additionally, he has both a BS and MS in civil engineering from The University of Akron.
Michael Latanza Area President - South
Michael is the Area President – South of SCA. He has P & L responsibility for our Southern Region Operations of the United States. Prior to SCA, Mr. Latanza was the owner and operator of USA Services of Florida, the largest street sweeping company in the state and one of the largest in the country. Michael brings the unique value of having the depth of experience of over 25 years in the sweeping industry at all levels of the operation including truck operations and maintenance, customer relations, business development, process improvement, contract bidding/negotiation, mergers & acquisitions and executive management. Michael has a BSBA from the University of Central Florida.
Michael Siragusa Vice President – Sales
Mike is the Vice President – Sales of SCA. He is responsible for all the sales, marketing and business development functions across the organization. Prior to joining SCA, Mr. Siragusa was the Vice President of Sales & Logistics for a large independent oil and gas exploration and production company where he was responsible for all industrial sand sales and logistics. Mike has a proven track record of over 30 years with growing top line revenue, cost containment and enhancing profitability with extensive experience in sales, marketing, business development, logistics, procurement, general management and operations. He has sold into a variety of higher end markets including energy, building materials, industrial, environmental and recreational. Mike has a BSBA from Ohio University.
Please be assured that the leadership team at Sweeping Corporation of America (SCA) is meeting daily to closely monitor the impact of COVID-19 on our employees, vendors, customers and all aspects of the communities we serve. We are following guidance from the CDC on cleaning and disinfecting and have implemented new policies for our employees to follow in an effort to prevent additional risk.
All routes are running as regularly scheduled. Updates on delays associated with COVID-19 will be communicated as they occur, however, we do not see any changes required at this point. We will continue working to make sure all of our stakeholders are informed as any changes occur.
